Jazz Band

The Jazz Band is a course that focuses on a variety of jazz styles and may include swing, Dixieland, be-bop, Latin, and fusion. There is an emphasis on theory as it relates to jazz and improvisation and includes various opportunities for performance. The jazz band performs in the community and attends 3-4 festivals per year. For the first time, Skyview now offers two jazz bands. Jazz I focuses on advanced literature and lots of opportunity for performance. Jazz II focuses on the foundations of jazz and improvisation.
